For the Love of Goats

I’ve always gravitated toward animals—cats on my lap, dogs racing beside me, horses, bunnies… if it’s soft, quirky, or belongs on a farm, I’m in. I’ve trained horses, flown through dog agility courses, and even spent years in the polished world of bank management. But everything shifted the day a friend said:

“I’ve got baby goats—come visit.”

I wasn’t planning on bringing one home. Truly.

Then she placed a tiny goat in my arms—and life cracked open in the best possible way.

That little goat was Daisy, the original heart‑stealer of The Great Goat Escape. She’s still with me today: a seven‑year‑old queen with a soft nose, a wise soul, and (fingers crossed!) babies expected in Spring 2026.

Of course, I didn’t stop at one.

Daisy was soon joined by:

  • Porky — a chubby brown doeling with a golden “X” on her face and the personality of a cinnamon roll.

  • Delilah — our resident sophisticate. She loves porch lounging, wine nights, and human company, and is fully convinced she’s one of us (she’s not wrong).

Together, these trailblazers introduced me to a life that felt instantly right—one filled with forest trails, gentle mischief, quiet moments, and a kind of connection that’s hard to put into words. We hike, experiment with a little Goat‑Gility, watch sunsets, and move through the seasons side by side.

The herd has grown naturally over time—first with a borrowed buck and now with our resident gentleman, Smoochie, who is (very hopefully) stepping into proud‑dad duties for Spring 2026’s baby crew.

Life with goats isn’t ordinary.

It’s grounding, hilarious, heart‑expanding, and just a little bit magical.

If you believe in forest fairy tales, farm therapy, and joy that arrives on four hooves, you’ll fit right in here.

Baby goats are (hopefully!) arriving Spring 2026—prepare to fall hopelessly in love.

What’s Happening at the Farm

February may be the shortest month of the year, but on the farm it has been full of movement, connection, and muddy boots at the door.

❄️ Winter Trails & Snowy Adventures

We embraced everything this season brought — dry forest paths, muddy barnyards, and even a little surprise snow. Our winter hikes have felt extra magical lately. The goats adjust beautifully to the energy of each group — sometimes slow and reflective, sometimes playful and frisky.

Snowshoeing has officially joined the mix, and watching the herd confidently lead through fresh powder? Pure joy.

💛 Love Without Pressure

Our Valentine’s hike event reminded us why we do this. “Love Without Pressure” wasn’t about romance — it was about slowing down, reconnecting, and sharing space with animals who live completely in the present moment.

The barn cuddle sessions have been especially cozy this month. Soft noses, warm hay, chocolate treats, and that quiet forest energy that seems to reset everyone who walks through the gate.

💛 Sweet Moments Cuddle Sessions

This month truly belonged to our Sweet Moments cuddle sessions. The barn has been extra cozy — warm hay, soft noses, quiet laughter, and guests slowing down long enough to really feel the moment.

We were so grateful to partner with House of Chocolate and share even more chocolate than planned (we may have been a little generous 😉). There’s something magical about pairing rich chocolate with the grounding presence of goats.

To every guest who embraced the stillness, the silliness, and the softness — thank you. You leaned into the experience fully, and that energy is what makes these sessions so special.

🏡 Cabin Guests & Weekend Momentum

January rolled straight into February with fully booked weekends — something we’re incredibly grateful for. Cabin guests have been pairing their stays with hikes, creating full farm immersion experiences.

There’s something special about waking up here — frost on the trees, goats calling softly, coffee in hand before a morning hike.

🐐 Herd Updates

The girls are settling into winter routines, and we’re quietly hopeful for spring babies. There’s a gentle shift in the air already. February always feels like the month where we begin listening for what’s next.

The herd has been calm, steady, and affectionate — Owen still leading the trails like the professional he is, Annika soaking up extra snuggles, and the younger ones testing the snowbanks just to see what happens.

🌱 Looking Ahead

As we move toward March, we’re opening more spring bookings and preparing for Mother’s Day weekend (yes, it fills quickly). If you’ve been thinking about visiting, this is your nudge.

Winter might look quiet from the outside — but here, it’s full of life.

Daisy - Delilah - Porky and in memory - Baby

Baby joined our little herd not long after the original trio. She was a bottle-fed sweetheart—tiny, fragile, and endlessly endearing. Although her time with us was far too short, she filled those days with quiet cuddles, soft bleats, and a spirit that touched my heart deeply. Saying goodbye wasn’t easy, but she remains part of our story, woven into the soul of our farm and the love that drives everything we do. Baby may have been small, but her memory is mighty.
